Authentic, Compassion-Driven Communication Support

Accessible, Client-Focused Speech Therapy for Houston Families
Welcome to Speak Speech Therapy, a dedicated practice serving the Greater Houston area. We offer specialized, neurodiversity-affirming speech therapy designed to support the communication goals of children, young adults, and adults. Our overarching value proposition is straightforward: we replace outdated compliance models with a philosophy rooted in respect and genuine connection. Since our founding, we have been committed to empowering every client to achieve their unique communication potential, building a supportive and accessible digital presence for the families we serve.

Our Story: A Shift to Specialized, Clinic-Based Care
Speak Speech Therapy was founded in 2016. We began as a home-based service, quickly becoming dedicated to providing personalized therapeutic support to the community. Over time, we recognized the strategic opportunity and the community's need for specialized, focused care, particularly for our neurodivergent clients. This led to a significant strategic evolution: by the end of 2023, we had fully transitioned out of home-based care. Today, we operate out of two clinics in the Tomball complex, having recently doubled our physical square footage to better serve families in Tomball, The Woodlands, and Spring. This history of significant growth and change, including serving over 500 patients, reflects our unwavering commitment to providing modern, high-quality speech therapy services tailored to individual needs.
Our Mission: Prioritizing Connection Over Compliance
Our work is driven by a profound belief in the power of meaningful relationships. Our guiding principle is "Connection over Compliance." This philosophy means we reject therapeutic models that prioritize forced conformity; instead, we focus on building rapport and deep trust with every client. We believe that only after this trust and relationship are established can the real work of therapy begin. Our mission is to:
- Honor every child’s individuality and unique communication style.
- Empower neurodivergent learners to communicate in ways that are authentic, respectful, and self-directed.
- Partner with parents and caregivers to create a holistic family partnership, ensuring the treatment plan reflects the child's individual needs, values and emotions.
This commitment extends to our entire patient base, ensuring that adults seeking support for conditions like Adult Cognition-Based Therapy also receive respectful, individualized care tailored to their specific goals.

Our Values & Community Commitment
Our internal culture and external service are guided by four publicly stated Core Values: Transparency, Empathy, Authenticity, and Understanding. These values ensure that we approach every client journey with genuine compassion and integrity.
- Transparency means we commit to open communication about the plan of care and the purpose behind our therapeutic methods.
- Empathy means we actively listen to concerns and validate the often-overwhelming journey families navigate.
- Authenticity means we honor our clients' right to communicate in ways that are true to themselves.
- Understanding means recognizing individual circumstances and ensuring that all perspectives are supported and included in the treatment plan.
Beyond our clinic walls, we are dedicated to broadening accessibility for the Greater Houston. A key component of our community commitment is providing services in both English and Spanish, ensuring diverse families can access the specialized care they need without a language barrier. We aim to be a top-notch, respected, and educational resource for all families, current and prospective.
Frequently Asked Questions About Speak Speech Therapy
What makes your "Connection over Compliance" philosophy different from other speech therapy providers?
Our philosophy, "Connection over Compliance," is our core differentiator, particularly for our primary audience of neurodivergent children. In traditional models, "compliance" often meant encouraging behaviors aimed at making the client appear more typical or neurotypical, frequently ignoring the client's internal state or discomfort. We reject this model. Instead, our approach is explicitly Neurodiversity Affirming, meaning we start by fostering meaningful, trusting relationships with the client. We prioritize building rapport and creating a safe and respectful environment where children feel understood, valued, and supported. This sets the foundation for growth. By focusing on communication that is authentic, respectful, and self-directed, we empower our learners to communicate in ways that are true to them, leading to more sustainable and joyful progress. It's about empowering the child, not enforcing commands.
What kind of specialized training does your team have to support neurodivergent and nonverbal learners?
Our dedicated team of SLPs and SLP-Assistants is committed to continuous professional development in the most modern, research-backed approaches. Our expertise goes beyond general speech therapy, focusing on specialized care models. For neurodivergent learners, we employ specific, respectful methodologies, such as Gestalt Processing Care, which is particularly beneficial for children who process language in chunks or "gestalts." We also apply principles that support complex needs such as Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and are experts in the Total Communication Approach. For nonverbal or minimally verbal clients, our specialists are adept in Augmentative and Assistive Communication (AAC) Therapy. This comprehensive training ensures that we can assess and treat a wide range of complex needs, always focusing on developing programs tailored to each child and enabling them to reach their full communication potential.
Who are your services for, and do you only work with children?
While we have a primary focus on parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children, our practice has strategically expanded its scope to serve a more diverse patient base. We proudly offer specialized services for adults as well. Our Adult Cognition-Based Therapy provides essential support for adults facing communication challenges and hindrances, helping them develop effective strategies for daily life. Whether you are a parent seeking therapy for a child with a speech, language, or feeding/swallowing delay, or an adult navigating cognitive or communication needs, we are here to help. Our goal is to ensure that our specialized services are accessible to all individuals in the Greater Houston area, regardless of their background or unique needs.
